Special Services
December 7th 2nd Sunday in Advent, Peace
December 14th 3rd Sunday in Advent, Joy; our Annual Christmas pageant, with a potluck following.
December 18th, 7PM. Quiet Christmas, offering a sacred space to not only remember their loved ones who have passed, but also to name their losses and griefs from the previous year, or maybe to recognize their disappointments or loneliness or fears. A way to acknowledge that they are not alone. It’s about making space for the sadness that is already there. Naming it. Honoring it, even. And yes, remembering the hope we have in Jesus.
December 21st 4th Sunday in Advent, Love
Christmas Eve Services at 5PM and 11PM with special liturgy and music.
January 4th, Epiphany and the Star Gift Service
Easter Flowers
Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday, March 29th. We gather together for a special worship service including our traditional singing of “The Palms” by our Palm Sunday Men’s Choir.
Potluck Community Seder, April 2nd, 5PM in Fellowship Hall
Enjoy a shared seder meal, thoughtful conversation, and worship as we reflect on Jesus’ servant heart and final meal with his disciples. The seder begins at 5:00PM with a shared reading from the Haggadah, a text that recounts the Egyptian Exodus story to freedom. Bring a favorite dish to share—everyone is welcome! Please RSVP, the sign-up sheet is in Fellowship Hall.
Service of Tenebrae, Maundy Thursday, April 2nd, 7:00PM.
The word “tenebrae” means shadow. Come hear the story of Jesus’ final hours as he chooses to let the shadow of death overcome him. This is a quiet, moving service when God’s love and God’s willingness to give his Son for us is made clear. Because this is a solemn service, we encourage older children to attend with their parents and younger children to take advantage of childcare in the nursery.
You are invited to enjoy the peace and silence of our sanctuary which will be open from 11AM to 5PM for quiet reflection. At 1PM, there will be a showing of The Last Temptation of Christ, rated R (not suitable for youth and children) about Jesus’ final days. Directed by Martin Scorcese. Discussion will follow.
EASTER SUNDAY
6AM: Sunrise Service behind the Woodstock Academy. “On the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb… and found the stone rolled away from the tomb”. Come and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the beauty of the early morning.
